Hello. I’d just like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to all of you and to express my thoughts as to my experience so far with the students and staff here at Kate LA.
I have over 20 years’ experience teaching English here in South Korea. I have 9 years’ experience teaching at different academies throughout Korea, in Pohang, Changwon, Gumi, Suwon, Andong, and here in Ulsan, 6 of which were teaching adult learners at various companies, and then 3 years teaching young learners as I do here at Kate LA. I also have also taught 14 years at 3 different universities here—10 years at Daegu University in Gyeongsan, 2 years at Daegu Catholic University in Hayang, and 2 years at Honam University in Gwangju, Jeollanam-do.
Obviously, going from teaching predominantly adult learners and university students to teaching elementary and middle school age children is a big change. The amount of energy, effort, time (in terms of lesson preparation), and patience required of me here is much much greater. However, I also find my experience here to be much more rewarding, and I have to say, truly and honestly, of all of the places I have taught, the caliber of students here at Kate LA is tops. I am consistently impressed with my students’ ability, motivation, diligence, and the quality of work they are able to produce. I am often bragging to my former colleagues at Daegu University about how the essays my elementary school and my middle school students here at Kate LA are writing are multiple times better than anything my university students ever produced. And I am speaking truly and honestly. I am SO impressed with the demanding curriculum here, the class structure, the organization, and the top-notch teachers I am working with here. I can’t speak highly enough of Heather Teacher, Linda, Jin, Anna, Lucy, and Dean Teacher, and everyone here at Kate LA, and I’m proud to be a part of it. I have dedicated my life to teaching, and I will continue to do my best to further the academic achievement of these truly incredible students here at Kate LA.
